Qualcomm has recently introduced the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 4nm Mobile Platform, designed for high-volume 5G devices and serving as the successor to its previous iteration, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. With the new Qualcomm Kryo CPU offering peak speeds of up to 2.2 GHz, this latest platform boasts a noteworthy 10% improvement in CPU performance compared to its predecessor.
While the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 continues to support 120fps FHD+ displays, on par with the previous model, it does feature a dual 12-bit ISP (Image Signal Processor) instead of the triple 12-bit ISP found in the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. Despite this change, Qualcomm emphasizes that the dual ISP remains powerful and capable.
One notable enhancement is the adoption of the 4nm processing node in the Snapdragon 4 series, which provides enhanced power efficiency. During the briefing, the company did mention that the Adreno GPU in the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is not as powerful as the one found in the Gen 1 model.
Moreover, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 incorporates the Snapdragon X61 5G Modem-RF System, an upgrade from the Snapdragon X51 5G modem. This advancement enables downlink speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps and incorporates Qualcomm Wi-Fi 5, ensuring rapid and robust Wi-Fi connectivity.
